Meet our staff at CKVC

Janessa Dickson:

I have worked at CKVC as a veterinary technician since the clinic opened the doors in November 2001.  I love to be challenged in any way, and I am also competitive and love to win.  I have a wonderful, tolerant husband, Chris, two adorable sons, Kylan and Landyn, who keep me on my toes 24/7.  Finally, I have five furry children:  Russia, Zoe, Tigger, T2 and Gracie.

Carie MacArthur:

I have been with CKVC since May 2003.  Before working at the clinic, I experienced different career opportunities, from being a nanny on the east coast to being a 911 emergency dispatcher.  I adopted two great felines, Mango and Mystic, from the clinic.  I also recently adopted another kitten, Tiger Lily.  I keep busy with Buck, my Labrador Retriever and Eva the Siberian Husky, taking the pair for walks and letting them play in the water.

Debra Ford:

A Hutchinson native, I have been with CKVC since April of 2004 as a technician.  I'm a single parent of an Amazon parrot named Pepe, Guido a Chiwiennie and a new addition called Telly, who is also a Chiwiennie (that is a mix of a Chihuahua and a Dachshund).

Tricia Hart:

I have been working as a receptionist here at CKVC since February 2007.  I feel very blessed to have found this wonderful job.  I love working with all the different animals and enjoy being challenged with new things everyday.  I have an amazing husband, Stephen, a beautiful daughter, Peyton, a darling son called Cooper and three dogs; Genie, a Pit Bull, Piper and Tucker (who are both Great Danes) and a cat called Lila.

Brandy DeGarmo:

I have been working at Central Kansas Veterinary Center since March of 2007!  I work here as a surgery technician and assist doctors with appointments along with many other duties.  My significant other, Randy and I have a wonderful boy named Grayson!  We also have a cat called Henry and three dogs:  Roxie a pug, Bo Duke a Boxer mix and Shelby a Pit Bull mix.  I have always loved animals and couldn't imagine doing anything else for my career.

Jenny Gillespie:

Hi!  I have been with CKVC since December of 2008.  I am so happy to be a part of our patients' lives as well as their families.  It has been such a rewarding eperience; I love working with such a great team of people!  Here I have the role of both receptionist and patient care technician so I get to be a part of many different aspects of the clinic.  At home, I have two four-legged children:  Ferguson and Charlie, who are Rat Terrier/Corgi mixes and Callie an Australian Shepherd mix--and they are sweethearts!  In my spare time, I enjoy playing softball and spending time with family and friends.  I look forward to the opportunity to care for your pet!

Dani Smith:

After graduating from Bel-Rea in Denver, CO to be a registered veterinary technician in June, 2009, my husband and I decided to move back to Kansas.  I soon found a job joining the team at CKVC.  I have really enjoyed putting my education to use while doing something I love.  When not working I enjoy going to the lake and spending time with my family.  My family includes my husband Donovan, our two children Camden and Stokley, our two dogs Amber and Kaia and two cats, Camel and Mr. Binx.

Alice Unruh:

I was born and raised in Hutchinson, but have lived and travelled all over the United States.  I have had many jobs, from driving fork lifts to working on machinery and did some quality control work.  At Collins Industries I did all the electrical work in ambulance and school buses.  My real love is animals though.  As the on-site groomer at CKVC, I love what I do.  I have groomed for the past eleven years.  Outside of work I do a lot of craft work and enjoy working with wood, making clocks and bird houses.

Courtney Garrett:

I have been a receptionist at CKVC since November of 2010 and am loving every minute of it!  I have always had a love for animals, so working in a veterinary center is perfect for me.  Currently I am living in Hutchinson and attending Hutchinson Community College; I'm originally from Sedgwick, KS though.  I am going to HCC in hopes of becoming a nurse practitioner in pediatrics.  Back home I have three little sisters and three pets:  Sampson a Cocker Spaniel, Gatsby a Boxer and Janie a Border Collie.  I enjoy reading, playing the piano and watching my favorite TV shows, "House" and "Dexter."

Kayla Knier:

In January 2011 I was given the opportunity to work at CKVC.  I love the challenging and caring atmosphere my job provides.  It's an amazing job and I get the chance to work with skilled doctors and extremely knowledgable staff!  I couldn't ask for better co-workers!  I am currently working on my nursing degree at HCC so I spend my spare time studying or spending time with my fiance, Jeff.  My younger sister also resides with us and attends HCC; she's in all honors classes and I couldn't be more proud of her!  I am so thankful that I have an amazing job that challenges me and teaches me something new every day.  At the end of the day I am welcomed home by my furry and fierce cat, Dolce, my outstanding fiance and wonderful sister!

Samantha Jenkins:

I have been with CKVC since March of 2011 and feel very fortunate to have found such a fulfilling yet challenging job.  With on-the-job training, it has been an interesting adventure learning as much as possible to care for every pet that comes to see us.  I graduated high school with honors in 2010 and began at Hutchinson Community College majoring in Biology.  I have two pets of my own:  a German Shepherd named Abby and a Great Dane named Freja.

Amber Slankard:

I have been with CKVC since May 3, 2011 and have enjoyed immensely being back in the hospital atmosphere, interacting with clients and their pets and the challenging aspects involved with working in a veterinary hospital.  I graduated from Wichita State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and a minor in biology.  Before coming to CKVC, I was the director at the Hutchinson Animal Shelter for five years, worked as a vet tech at Bogue Animal Hospital and Indian Hills Animal Clinic for seven years and spent one year at Idexx Veterinary Diagnostics Lab as a specimens processor.  I share my  home in the country with my five FABULOUS dogs, five spunky kitties, my sassy umbrella cockatoo, fun Macaw and several saltwater fish.  As the Practice Manager for CKVC, I look forward to helping you, and your pets, in the future!

Jessica Lewis:

After graduating from Colby Community College with an associate's degree as a registered veterinary technician, I joined the CKVC team in May of 2011.  I did volunteer work for the center two years ago and loved every minute--so I am back full time now.  My "family" consists of a Siberian Husky called Maggie.  My husband Justin is a United States Marine.  We are newlyweds!
